About this call

The Call for Civic Education Projects aims to strengthen democratic values, the rule of law and civic engagement through high-quality civic education programmes and projects. The Call supports initiatives that provide citizens with the knowledge, skills, confidence and concrete opportunities needed to actively participate in democratic life and contribute to inclusive, participatory and resilient communities. The Call places particular emphasis on civic education as a lifelong and participatory process that goes beyond the simple transfer of information. Supported projects are expected to connect civic learning with meaningful participation, democratic practice, community engagement, public dialogue, local initiatives and intercultural cooperation. Projects should contribute to stronger democratic competences, better understanding of human rights, the rule of law and democratic processes, and create opportunities for participants to apply what they have learned in practice. The Call is implemented through two complementary funding streams. LOT 1 supports the scaling, adaptation, transferability and evaluation of established civic education programmes with demonstrated results, with the aim of expanding their reach and use and strengthening the evidence base for their further development and wider adoption. LOT 2 supports the development, improvement and delivery of civic education projects that increase access to civic education opportunities and create credible pathways from civic learning to civic engagement for specific target groups and communities. The Call particularly encourages initiatives that actively involve young people, reach communities with limited access to opportunities or under-represented groups, promote intercultural, interethnic and/or interreligious dialogue, strengthen cooperation between civil society organisations and educational institutions, and support the inclusion of Roma communities, migrants, refugees and other groups with limited opportunities for active civic participation. Under LOT 2, special strategic priority is given to the development and/or improvement of mentorship programmes for Roma youth, particularly young Roma women and girls. Project grant amount: LOT 1: 150.000 - 200.000 € LOT 2: 80.000 - 100.000 € The presentation of the Call and the information workshop will be held online, via the Zoom platform, on 31 August 2026 from 11:00 to 13:00. The information workshop will provide a detailed presentation of the objectives, purpose and focus of the Call, the application procedure, and the forms of support available to applicants. A recording of the online information workshop will be published on the EEA CSF Croatia Programme website as additional support to applicants. Prior registration for participation in the workshop is mandatory via the following link: https://forms.gle/vS3BJL3GVSGwMosN6.
