About this project

The project proposes the restoration and enhancement of the Marghiloman Manor in the South of Romania (Hagiești village, Sinești commune, Ialomița county) - a historical monument of national significance, administrated by the National Institute of Heritage, currently unused and in a state of increasing disrepair. The project will restore a valuable cultural landmark to the local, regional and national community, thus contributing to the local community development and to the re-connecting of Hagiești and the surrounding area to existing or emerging touristic and economic networks. The project’s main objective - the restoration and enhancement of the Marghiloman Manor and establishing a best practice in cultural heritage management. The specific objective of stimulating the local community development and its involvement in heritage enhancement and capitalization – will be met through 1) the project’s significant educational component (age and interest-specific training programs, practical workshops, non-formal education activities, training of trainers etc), 2) continuous efforts for public consultation and community-sourcing of the local cultural identity and 3) the enrichment and accessibility of the local cultural & leisure offer. The proposed project partnership, composed of two Romanian partners and one from Norway, was created for the development of appropriate cultural activities, adapted to the target audience and to their needs. So, our partner, “The Paper Mill”, has experience in organizing and transmitting traditional crafts workshops. Also, the series of musical education workshops for children will be coordinated by our other partner, Sonoro. By the joining of the Norwegian partner, our project will provide added value, by identifying solutions, in rural areas, that will generate financial sustainability.
