Restoration and revitalization of cultural heritage - "Pittner School" Exhibition and Event Center, Resita Municipality
Reșița Municipality ·Romania
About this project

The main objective of "Restoration and revitalization of cultural heritage - Pittner School-Exhibition and Event Center, Resita Municipality" project, consist in making investments into the building located in Resita town, Caras-Severin district. The building is a historical monument built at the end of the nineteenth century. The building is currently in an advanced state of degradation, requiring major repairs both in terms of securing the urban utilities, as well as interventions on all architectural elements, in order to transform it into an attractive exhibition space for visitors and exhibitors. For the promotion of the new multicultural center several activities are proposed, such as: - cultural and artistic educational activities with all ages persons (such as training sessions organized on topics related to multiculturalism) - promoting the idea of the importance of monuments' protection - organizing cultural events such as cultural festivals, exhibitions, creative workshops in areas such as music, theater, choreography, fashion design, photo-video and visual arts. The direct beneficiaries of the investment are the local community members , especially persons who live in the area where the building is situated, considering that the investment will attract a high number of people, including a high cash flow for the local products and services.

Bilateral cooperation results
The project was implemented in partnership with Listahópurinn RÖSK from Iceland, which facilitated study visits for Romanian experts. The unique artistic performance by Thora Karlsdottir, the representative of the Donor State partner, held in collaboration with local artists and musicians from Reșița in March 2024, brought significant added value to the Pittner School project. This performance reflected the artist’s personal journey within the project, emphasizing their shared goal of mutual inspiration, symbolized by the contrast between Icelandic volcanoes and the industrial flame of Reșița. The one-of-a-kind dress created by Thora Karlsdottir specifically for this event is currently on display at the Pittner School.
