About this project

The main objective of the project is to solve UPG heating and environment problems through introduction of a renewable energy systems by using geothermal energy. The system is based on different type of heat pumps. It is designed to reduce University classical fuel consumption, mainly natural gas and emissions of actual systems. The project aims to reduce cost. increase the number of employees and increase comfort both inside the campus and in the educational process.

Two types of heat pumps will be installed, water-based and air-based. The water heat pumps are used for absorption of the water from the ground. The water heat pumps are supplied with water from the wells which will be made on university campus. The heat pumps will be installed to cover the need of hot water for the campus, the sport facilities and canteen which are not connected to the actual heating system. The heat pumps will also provide heat in winter and coolness in summer for one of University’s education building. It also reduces the consumption of classical fuel and reduces the emissions resulted from the use of boilers. Key activities include:

Designing the geothermal system.

Smart measurement.

Supply and install the equipment.

Expected outcomes of the project include an annual reduction in CO2 emissions by 661 tonnes and 2,874 MWh/year renewable produced annually. The project is expected to generate 5 new jobs.
