Coating development and high-tech equipment purchase for the coating of ultra-light and environmentally friendly forged magnesium automotive and motorcycle wheels

<p>AS "SMW Group" the project encompasses a purchase and commissioning of high-tech equipment for the coating of ultra-light and environmentally friendly forged magnesium automotive and motorcycle wheels. The goal is to develop and obtain a modified (P, Si and Zr) coating using a custom paint application system that provides filling of the pores of the PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation) coating to further improve the corrosion properties and resistance with SINTEF based on the PEO process in alkaline electrolytes (eg KOH), in order to process forged magnesium wheels with the developed coating for passenger cars using magnesium alloy AZ80 and for racing cars (including motorcycles) using magnesium alloy ZK60. The end product will offer 20-50% lighter automotive and motorcycle wheels on the market, which usage will significantly reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.</p>
