About this project

The project "STEM in elementary school Vrgorac" aims to educate teachers for STEM skills, and through 4 programs to educate students, modernize classrooms and procure STEM equipment. The project is addressing limited access to quality education and equipment in STEM subjects in a secluded school in Vrgorac, located in Adriatic hinterland in Split-Dalmatia County. The project will involve talented students and students with special educational needs. The project will last 18 months during which 4 programs will be implemented: two modules for STEM researchers, STEM researchers, Active Citizenship programme and Entrepreneurship programme. The project partner will be the University of Stavanger, which will have an advisory role on the procurement of STEM equipment, STEM workshops as well as research on the impact of the teaching model on student motivation and work.

Bilateral cooperation results

1. Bilateral cooperation was established through a partnership with the University of Stavanger, which provided advisory services to teaching staff regarding STEM subjects. They suggested equipment and guided educational staff on various ways to use the acquired equipment across multiple school subjects. The project partner also explored the effectiveness of applying new teaching methodologies and the success of the implemented programs among students. Special attention was given to students with special educational needs and gifted students to assess how well the planned activities met their educational needs. The partner also provided suggestions for improving teaching methodologies and STEM content. 2. The main results of the bilateral cooperation include new knowledge, skills, and working methodologies adopted by educational staff, which will be applied in their future work. Additionally, the partner's visits and workshops with students had a positive impact, enhancing their STEM skills. 3. Currently, there are no concrete plans for the continuation of bilateral cooperation. However, the partner's employees remain in contact with the staff at Primary School Vrgorac and are open to questions, collaboration, and assistance of any kind.
