About this project

The project will modernize six STEM classrooms in three schools of the City of Zagreb that is a precondition for the introduction of STEM programmes in regular curricula and extracurricular activities for at least 1550 students, including students with disabilities and potentially talented students. The project will also introduce STEM gardens and parks to the schools as outside classrooms incorporating several STEM fields (biology, chemistry, physics - astronomy). The project will strengthen the capacities and STEM skills of at least 36 teachers in the Primary School Lučko, 21 teachers in the Primary School Vugrovec-Kašina and 45 teachers in the PS Nikola Tesla. In addition to the above, the project will develop a STEM library in cooperation with a team of Norwegian partners, which will commonly develop interesting and creative teaching materials that will be available to all schools at the national level after the project.

Bilateral cooperation results

The project cooperated with the Norwegian partner Åpenhet (Norway), with whom it carried out ICT activities through the creation of a digital tool STEM library (described in the text above), which contributes to the dissemination of project results at the national level. Furthermore, through the realized study trips to Norway, we took 29 teachers and educational workers who had the opportunity to see and participate in very interesting STEM activities in the field of STEM education in Oslo. The study trip resulted in a high-quality exchange of experiences, knowledge sharing and motivation for establishment of STEM activities in curricular and extracurricular forms of work at the partner schools. During their visit to Oslo, the teachers visited various institutions, schools and companies engaged in activities that contribute to the development and practice of STEM in the Norwegian education system. Through the feedback and reviews of Norwegian experts on the good practices of the Croatian education system presented during STEM week when Norwegian experts visited Croatian schools, we understood much more about what we do well and where we have room for improvement. The school teachers gained a better picture on activities and teaching style that they can use in regular and extracurricular activities. The bilateral cooperation achieved through this project represents an important foundation for the future cooperation, and the desire to continue the exchange of knowledge and experience is mutual.
