About this project

The Regional Science Centre of Panonia Croatia (RSC PAN HR) is a joint effort of Osijek-Baranja County, Virovitica-Podravina County,, University in Osijek, Business incubator BIOS in Osijek, local schools and other interested stakeholders. The project will establish premises of the RSC PAN HR in four schools in two counties, with the central location in Osijek rural area – Josipovac Punitovački. This location, alongside STEM classrooms and laboratories, will establish an observatory and a planetarium for specialised activities for students. The project is focused on talented students in STEM and ICT. Partners University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek and the Business Incubator BIOS will develop and provide trainings for teachers which will incorporate approaches to potentially talented students in biology, physics, chemistry, informatics and technology. The new approaches are planned to be incorporated in the university curricula. The project will introduce numerous activities for all students from two participating counties, who are motivated to do extra classes in various subjects that are not part of the regular school curriculum, such as astronomy, geology, 3D modeling, programming, chemistry of food etc. The project is also focused in inclusion of students in rural areas, providing transportation to activities for students residing less reachable areas. The key part of the project is knowledge exchange with Vitensenteret Innlandet Gjovik, which will provide trainings and guidance in the establishment of the regional science centre, as an experienced science centre form Norway. The RSC PAN HR will also work with partners from Split-Dalmatia County, Centre of Excellence in Split and NGO CEDRA, who are currently developing their own regional science centre in Split, in developing the identification method for gifted students, developing programmes for school cooperatives and active citizenship, and developing their own network Izvrsna.hr.

Bilateral cooperation results

The bilateral partnership enabled the transfer of knowledge and experience, which turned out to be extremely useful for both sides, especially for the Croatian partners, because the Norwegian partners are much more experienced and want to share their long-term experience. They helped with numerous ideas, advice, consultations and by showing examples of their activities, how they are actually organized, implemented and analyzed. The results of bilateral cooperation are: improvement of knowledge, skills and competences, assistance in the establishment and organization of workshops, consulting regarding the financing of activities and provision of financial resources. It was agreed to continue bilateral cooperation through partnership in the application of project proposals for funding from public calls, but also through sharing experiences in work and consulting for finding solutions and designing new activities.
