Holcim (Hrvatska) ltd. ·Croatia
About this project

Holcim Hrvatska is a large cement company with more than 90 years of tradition in operating stone quarries and cement industry. They successfully operate in three business segments: cement, concrete and aggregates, serving both Croatian and regional markets.

The new project will enable them to produce new type of low-carbon cement which in 2021 was added to the European standard for cement production. In the project they will make a storage and dosing of new mineral additive. The demand for these components in the market is rather high, it is challenging for Holcim to increase orders, and the prices for those components constantly rise. For that reason, Holcim decided to source additional natural mineral component (Pozzolan) from its own Pozzolan quarry in Greece to be able to control delivery volumes and cost.

Project will have direct environmental benefits (reduction of emissions, reduction of energy consumption, savings in limestone extracted from the quarry, savings in explosives used to extract (mine) the limestone quarry.

The project will result in economic activity increasing the Project Promoter's competitiveness in the form of growth in turnover and net operational profit, increased knowledge from the application of new innovative technology, and it will contribute to significant environmental as well as social benefits with the creation of new jobs in the future.
