Background

The project aims to improve access to basic services for refugee families from Ukraine living in Győr and Kapuvár, especially vulnerable families, including Roma households. It seeks to strengthen self-reliance and support the practical exercise of rights, with a focus on human rights, equal treatment and social justice.

The direct target group includes refugee children, adults facing labour market difficulties, and women who are uncertain in official procedures. The project will also indirectly benefit local institutions, professionals and host communities.

Main activities include learning support, school preparation, a Community Hygiene and Health Support Base, labour market mentoring, and community forums. The project uses small-group support, individual mentoring, practice-based learning, regular participation, personal guidance and documented case management.

The project will be implemented in cooperation with local institutions and professional partners. Its long-term results are expected to improve school participation, strengthen administrative and employment-related awareness, and support better local cooperation. The organisation will also work to maintain the Community Hygiene and Health Support Base after the project ends.

Activities

The project’s direct target group consists of vulnerable families—including Roma families—who have fled Ukraine and are living in Győr and Kapuvár. The project reaches 45 children, 90 adults, and 40 families. Direct participants are assigned a unique, anonymized project identifier, which is used consistently across all program components; this ensures individual tracking and prevents double counting. The target for indirect reach is 5 educational institutions, 100 teachers and school staff, 10 healthcare professionals, 15 social workers or government officials, and 200 local residents. The project addresses language barriers, learning gaps, access to hygiene, vulnerability in the labor market, and obstacles to independent administrative procedures. The organization tracks the target group’s engagement, participation, and progress through attendance, service, case management, and development records, as well as monthly participant summaries.

Expected results

The project aims to improve access to basic services for families who have fled Ukraine—particularly those in vulnerable situations, including Roma families—in Győr and Kapuvár, to strengthen their self-reliance, and to support the effective exercise of their rights. The project reaches 45 children and 90 adults, for a total of 135 direct participants. Its main activities include after-school programs, school readiness support, operating a community hygiene and health center, labor market mentoring, and community forums. Implementation is based on small-group development, documented individual case management, practical skills development, and institutional cooperation. The organization ensures the sustainability of the Community Hygiene and Health Center through a maintenance plan prepared by the end of the project, which outlines its operation for the 12 months following project completion, as well as the responsible parties and funding sources.
